The Future of Your Health is Now

The doctor of the future will give no medicine but will interest his patients in the care of the human frame, in diet and in the cause and prevention of disease.” – Thomas Edison

Mr. Edison said that over 100 years ago, and only now are some parts of western society beginning to embrace this paradigm of no longer treating disease primarily with medication and surgery. Granted, these methods are good for life-and-death situations — car accidents, heart attacks, etc. But preventing death isn’t what health and wellness is really about.

Health is about becoming more ALIVE.

Health is not necessarily about having more years in our life, but about having more life in our years. (after all, what good are more years if you can’t enjoy them?)
Good health is about being more vibrant and experiencing more energy. It’s about enabling your body so that you can go after you dreams and grow spiritually. In a nutshell, health IS about inscribing the life that you want to live.

And the only way to make real, lasting health happen is by bring your day to day actions and thoughts in harmony with nature, and with your nature. That’s the “medicine” of the future.

Yet, when most people think about “health,” they usually think diet and exercise. The thing is though, those are only two pieces of the puzzle which is why so many people have trouble getting healthy and staying there.

They try to do it all with diet and exercise exclusively.

But instead of focusing just on those two aspects of our lives, why not be more balanced and put your energy into some of the other important aspects of health?
Mind Over Matter:
Dr. Masaru Imoto did experiments with water crystals that showed how prayer and positive intention actually affected water to make it more beautiful and organized. Sounds far-fetched? These results were validated in further experiments by Dr. Dean Radin from the Institute of Noetic Sciences.

Think about that for a moment…
We are made up of about 60% water. If we are taking the time to nurture our minds with good thoughts, then it’s no mystery why we feel physically better. On the other hand, just imagine the damage we do to ourselves every day, every time we think negatively.

So as you can imagine, it’s very important to learn how to de-stress and use the power of positive and constructive thoughts to keep your body cells vibrant. Yes this is easier said than done, but still we can start taking small helpful steps today.
Rejuvenating Sleep:
This is an area I have had difficulty with in the past, and in December I’ll be sharing more on this topic about what I’ve learned. One study found that individuals who slept less than five hours a night TRIPLED their risk of having a heart attack. That’s just one study, but there have been hundreds of studies worldwide showing the correlation between adequate sleep and positive health benefits.

Sleep is a time when our bodies are doing significant healing work, so the more effectively we support our sleep, the more effectively we enable our bodies to heal and rejuvenate themselves. Read the rest of this entry »
